ipod 30GB firmware update

Hi,
I have an US ipod 30GB with firmware 2.0 using Joe's masterpiece
ephpod 2.71, which works fine now after struggling around with ton's
of mp3s that had no or no correct ID tags and caused ephpod to stop
while syncing...

The only problem I face is a little click on the ipod with a short
pause of a fraction of a second between each song. This is not that
annoying between normal, single songs but on a live album it can
be a pain.

I read somewhere that this click goes away after updating the ipod
firmware. I only have ephpod running, no other Apple software, no
ipod drivers or something. My system is a fresh W2k installation
which I only use only as a client - all programs are on a fileserver.

Has anyone here updated the ipod before?

My questions are:

1) Where can I download the latest firmware?
Does anyone maybe have the direct link?
Is this always a multiligual version including the german version?

2) Does my problem described above goes away with that?

3) Are there any disadvantages that accur with the latest firmware?

4) Are there any more advantages I get with the lastest firmware?

5) Can it be dangerous to update the ipod? What do I have to consider
except not disconnecting the ipod while updating...

Thanks for your replies.

Salut, Markus

You can turn the Click off right now, It's under
settings, It's called "Clicker"

Even my Original 5GB Mac only version with it's Really
old firmware has the option to turn this feature off.

@Crunchy,
you missunderstood me. Its not that click that I meant
while using the keypad, it is the pause between tracks,
that the ipod has and cannot be switched off. I read
somewhere that this is a bug in firmware 2.0 which goes
away after an update.

I would appreciate if someone can confirm this and answer
my questions.
