Sorry about that problem with the mp4v2.dll (and see why I shouldn't try
to release something at 3 am?)

Anyhow:

Try it now.

Prior versions had issues with syncing mp4's - ephpod would reload all
mp4's (rather than just loading new ones) and often crash when loading many
mp4's. Anyone know if this version works better?

Prior version did not read genre tags properly (or the same way itunes and
other programs read them). Does the new mp4 tag library fix this?

Joe, thanks for all your work on this great program

It should -- I spent about 10-20 hours integrating a new mp4-reading
library, so I think you'll be happy with that part of it.

By mp4-reading library, do you mean tags or both tags and syncing?

thanks again

I'm not sure what you mean by "both tags and syncing". EphPod has one
set of "tag-reading" routines that it uses for everything it does. When
passed a file (via add song, add directory, drag and drop, sync, etc),
EphPod tries to read information on the file. I have updated the
routine that reads tag information from mp4 files so that it can be more
accurate.

Several EphPod users sent me .mp4 and .m4a files that did not work with
EphPod's previous tag-reading routines, and they now work with the new
routines.

I was having two problems (syncing and tagging), and couldn't tell if your
response dealt with both or only one or if the two are related.

With prior versions of ephpod, when I synced, ephpod would delete all of
the mp4's on my ipod, then try to load all mp4's from the disk. Often,
ephpod would crash while loading the mp4's. I believe others also reported
these problems.

I was wondering if these issues have been fixed.

thanks again

Questions:
* To use 2.74, do we have to do anything with the ipod or just replace the
client on the pc?
* Do we uninstall old versions or can we now reinstall over existing
installation?
* I still have several songs that will not play on the ipod, yet they play
on iTunes. I fear that the iPod OS is preventing them from playing because
a tag may be wrong. Can ephod get around this?
* Should I reimage the iPod before I start to use 2.74?

Just install over the old one.

EphPod can't get around something that the iPod OS has a problem with.
You'll have to be more specific about file type.

That isn't necessary.
